About Grant

The Re-Project was built from lived experience, not theory.

I’m Grant Shields, founder of The Re-Project, author of The Unfelt Self, and a coach, trainer and listener with more than 40 years across sales, leadership, training and human behaviour. My work is built around a simple belief: the patterns we live from can be recognised, understood and rewritten.

The story behind the work

I have spent years watching capable people get pulled off course by patterns they could not yet see.

For more than 40 years, my work has sat inside sales rooms, leadership conversations, training sessions and coaching moments. I have worked with people on the sales floor, in management, in business ownership and at senior leadership level. Different titles, different industries, same human truth: pressure has a way of revealing the script underneath.

I have seen talented people lose confidence, avoid the conversation, over-explain, carry too much, chase approval, protect themselves, or keep performing a version of themselves that once made sense but no longer fits. Most of the time, the problem was not laziness or lack of ability. It was an old pattern doing its best to keep them safe.

The Re-Project became clearer after a personal turning point of my own. A corporate restructure stripped away more than a role. It challenged the identity I had built around being capable, useful and strong. That experience became one of the catalysts for The Unfelt Self, and later, the wider Re-Project work.

The deeper thread

The script is not the enemy. It usually started as protection.

The work is not about blaming yourself for the pattern. It is about understanding why it made sense, seeing where it is now costing you, and learning how to respond from a more conscious place.

When you can name the script, you are no longer just living inside it.

How I work

Direct enough to be useful. Human enough to be safe.

The Re-Project is built around grounded conversations, practical language and the belief that people can change when they can finally see the pattern clearly enough.

Listening first

I listen for what sits underneath the words.

People often know the surface problem. The real shift starts when we can hear the pressure, protection, fear or old expectation sitting underneath it.

Practical clarity

The work has to become usable.

Insight is useful, but only if it helps you act differently in real life. The goal is always to name the pattern and find a practical next step.

Not fluff

I am not interested in motivational noise.

This is not about pretending everything is easy. It is about being honest enough to see what is happening, kind enough not to shame it, and practical enough to change it.

Clear boundaries

Coaching, not therapy.

The Re-Project is not diagnosis, treatment or crisis support. It is coaching, reflection and practical pattern work for people who want to understand themselves and move differently.

Why The Re-Project exists

The work is simple: name the script, understand why it made sense, then begin rewriting it in real life.

The Re-Project was created for capable people who are tired of being run by patterns they cannot quite explain. Some people meet those patterns in relationships. Some meet them under pressure. Some meet them in sales conversations, leadership moments or the quiet parts of life where confidence starts to slip.

The Re-Project lens

You are not broken. But you may be living from an old script that deserves to be questioned.

Recognise

See the pattern clearly enough to stop blaming yourself.

The first step is recognition. Not a label for the sake of it, but a clearer way to understand why you react, protect, avoid, perform or over-carry.

Understand

Understand why the script made sense.

Most scripts began as protection, adaptation or survival. The work is not to shame the pattern, but to understand where it came from and where it is now costing you.

Rewrite

Practise a different response where it matters.

Change happens when insight becomes usable. The Re-Project helps turn recognition into practical next steps, clearer conversations and different choices under pressure.

Where to start

Choose the starting point that fits where you are.

The Re-Project is designed with a few different entry points.. Some people start with a assessment Some start with their sales behaviour. Some just need a calm conversation with someone who can listen properly.
