Say the real thing.
The Listening Lab is a calm, private online session for whatever is sitting heavily or looping in your head - a difficult conversation, a decision, a frustration, an idea you want to test, something you need to vent, or simply something you need to say out loud. No advice ambush. No fixing before understanding. Just a grounded conversation that helps you hear yourself more clearly and leave with one useful next step.
“I did not need someone to fix it. I needed space to finally hear what I was saying.”
By the end, I had clearer language, less noise in my head, and one practical next step I could actually use.
When you are not heard, you start
The problem is not that you cannot cope.
The problem is that you may have been carrying the same thing for so long that you have started treating the weight as normal.
Most people do not need another opinion. They need space to say the real thing without managing someone else’s reaction, being rushed into a solution, or having their experience minimised.
You keep it light.
You leave out the harder parts because you do not want to be a burden, start drama, or look like you are not coping.
You over-explain.
You try to make the issue sound reasonable before you have even been given room to feel it.
You shut down.
When people jump in too quickly, part of you learns it is easier to say nothing than to be misunderstood again.
You lose the thread.
The real issue gets buried under guilt, frustration, overthinking, resentment, or “maybe it is just me.”
The Listening Lab creates a different kind of conversation.
One where you can slow down, say it honestly, hear yourself clearly, and leave with one grounded next step.
A structured conversation where the first job is listening.
The Listening Lab is a private 30-minute online session. It is calm, real and designed to help you say what is on your mind, hear yourself more clearly, separate the noise from what matters, and leave with one next step that actually fits your life.
Say it aloud
Get the thoughts out of your head and into words without having to make them polished first.
Separate the noise
Work out what is the actual issue and what is the emotional static around it.
Spot the pattern
Notice the behaviour, pressure, assumption or loop that can be hard to see when you are inside it.
Leave with a move
Walk away with one practical next step, not a five-step life overhaul.
For people who need to be heard before they are advised.
The Listening Lab is for the person who has something they need to say, test, untangle or simply get out of their head - especially when every other conversation seems to turn into advice before anyone has really understood what is going on.
You need to get something out of your head
You do not need to have the whole story worked out. You may just need somewhere to vent, say it properly, or hear what you actually think once the words are out loud.
You need someone neutral
Friends and family may care, but they are often too close to the story. Sometimes you need a third party who can listen without taking sides, fixing it, or steering you toward their answer.
You need space to think before you decide
You may be weighing up a decision, testing an idea, replaying a conversation or trying to work out what matters most. The aim is not to rush you to an answer, but to help you get clearer about your own next move.
Thirty minutes. Four things you can actually use.
This is not about fixing your life in one session. It is about getting one thing out of your head, hearing it more clearly, and leaving with something useful.
Relief
Saying it out loud to someone who can actually hold it changes the pressure.
Clarity
You separate the real problem from the symptoms, assumptions and noise.
Language
Words you can use with yourself, a partner, a manager or a friend.
Direction
A real next step that fits your life, not someone else’s template.

- Calm, grounded presence
- Sharp questions when they are useful

- No rushing to fix what has not yet been understood
- A practical next step, not a lecture
You keep saying “I’m fine” when you are not.
The Listening Lab may be useful if something is sitting under the surface and you need a quiet space to name it honestly.
- You need a neutral third party who is not involved
- You want clarity before making a decision
- You are tired of being advised before being understood
- You have a personal, work, relationship or sales issue to unpack
- You want help turning a messy feeling into clearer language

Already taken the assessment ?
If your result stirred something in you, you can bring it into the Listening Lab and unpack what it means in real life.
This is optional. The session stands alone. The real ticket is having something you need to say out loud.
- Unpack your Unfelt Self or Sales Script result
- Connect the result to real relationships, work or sales conversations
- Turn the insight into one practical next step
Created by Grant.
The Listening Lab was created by Grant Shields, founder of The Re-Project and author of The Unfelt Self. Grant brings more than 40 years of sales, leadership, training and coaching experience, alongside certification as a life coach, DISC practitioner and trainer. The approach is calm, grounded and practical. You are not being analysed, diagnosed or sold to. You are being listened to properly.
You will not be analysed. You will be understood.
- No fluff
- No judgement
- No “just be positive” nonsense
- Real listening, sharp questions and practical outcomes
Questions people ask. Answered honestly.
I do not want to be dramatic.
You do not need a crisis or a dramatic reason to book. If something is taking up space in your head, keeps looping, or would simply be easier to think through out loud, that is enough.
I do not know what I would say.
That is completely fine. Most people start there. The questions help you find the thread.
Is this therapy?
No. It is a coached listening session for clarity and reflection, not clinical treatment, diagnosis or crisis support.
Are you going to sell me something?
No. The session stands alone. If there is a useful next step, you will hear about it without pressure.
Do I need to complete an assessment first?
No. You can book a Listening Lab without completing an assessment. If you already have a Re-Project result, you are welcome to bring it, but the session can just as easily be about a conversation, decision, frustration, idea or situation you want to talk through.
What happens after the session?
You leave with clearer language and one practical next step. If you want to go further, you can decide what makes sense from there - there is no ongoing commitment or obligation.
If you are tired of performing “fine”, this is your place to put it down.
Thirty minutes. Online. Private. NZ$49. No homework, no performance, no need to arrive with the right words - just a real conversation with someone whose job, for that 30 minutes, is to listen properly and help you hear yourself more clearly.
